VNA Announces Flu Shot Clinics
beginning October 11

Public flu clinics are scheduled throughout the region beginning Oct. 11, as the nonprofit Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice gets ready to help area residents guard against influenza .

More than 27 public VNA flu clinics will be held this fall in cooperation with the Monterey County Health Department, including drive-through clinics in Monterey and Salinas.  Pediatric vaccine will be available at eight clinics, and appointment vouchers will be used at two locations. VNA already has received vaccine shipments and no shortage of vaccine is expected this fall.

VNA flu clinics also have been scheduled at 65 local businesses to keep their employees healthy this fall.
This marks the 18th year the nonprofit VNA has provided public and corporate flu protection for area residents.

Flu shots are a covered benefit for persons with Medicare as their primary insurance or at VNA’s cost of $30.  Pneumonia shots also are a covered benefit to those with Medicare, or $45 to others.  Medicare cards must be brought to the clinics.  Appointment vouchers can be obtained from Sally Griffin Center and Carmel Foundation during the week before those clinics, to avoid long lines.

For more information and all clinic locations, contact your VNA Immunization Information line at 648-3777 or visit www.ccvna.com.
